AI-Powered Platform Targets Communities, Businesses, and Homes

Husk Power Systems has come a long way since its co-founder and CEO, Manoj Sinha (MBA ’09), first tackled the lack of electricity in his home state of Bihar, India. In 2008, Sinha and his co-founders used their savings to build a minigrid with a biomass gasifier. Fueled by rice husks, the gasifier produced only 30 kilowatts of power and delivered electricity to 400 homes via low-voltage power lines strung on bamboo poles.

Today, Husk owns and operates the world’s largest fleet of hybrid minigrids. These systems integrate solar power with other renewable sources, like biomass, to ensure a continuous supply of electricity for off-grid areas. With a presence in over 400 rural communities in India and Nigeria, Husk brings clean energy to 1.5 million residential customers and more than 30,000 small businesses. However, it took Sinha years to develop a commercially viable business model and the right technology platform to scale across two continents.

AI-Powered Platform Targets Communities, Businesses, and Homes

Husk’s revamped DER model is built around three customer segments—communities, commercial and industrial (C&I) businesses, and households.

-Minigrids will continue to supply power to rural communities, both isolated and grid-connected.

-C&I and residential customers will be offered standalone rooftop or ground-mounted systems through turnkey EPC models or long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).

One-stop, AI-powered solar solutions

BEEM offers digital, AI-enabled services that simplify the entire solar installation journey from system sizing to booking, all done online. With premium products like Aura and Eternia, designed for India’s flat rooftops, homeowners get quality solutions plus financing, net metering, and lifetime service support.

“BEEM’s AI-powered digital platform simplifies the entire homeowner journey for going solar, the same way the iPhone transformed mobile commerce 15 years ago,” said Husk CEO and Co-Founder Manoj Sinha.

Rolling out across key states

BEEM is first targeting Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra, with plans to expand nationwide. By combining innovation, affordability, and ease, BEEM is set to accelerate India’s solar journey at scale.
