ANPR systems collect valuable data on vehicle usage patterns

Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd has been granted a patent for its new EV charging conversion technology that allows GB/T electric vehicles to charge using CCS2 fast chargers, helping bridge a major compatibility gap in India’s rapidly evolving EV ecosystem.

Solving India’s EV charging compatibility challenge

The patented innovation, titled “System and Method for Charging an Electric Vehicle”, allows GB/T-based electric vehicles to charge using CCS2 DC fast chargers. As India moves towards the CCS2 standard, many older electric vehicles still use GB/T technology.

Servotech’s solution acts as a smart converter. When connected to a CCS2 charger, it enables GB/T vehicles to charge safely, efficiently and quickly. This helps improve the use of existing charging infrastructure while ensuring that older EV owners are not left behind during the transition.

The innovation enables seamless charging of GBT-based electric vehicles using CCS2 DC fast chargers. As the ecosystem rapidly transitions toward the CCS2 standard, a significant number of vehicles, especially older fleets, continue to operate on GBT charging technology. Servotech’s patented device acts as a smart converter that, when connected to a CCS2 charger, allows GBT vehicles to charge safely, quickly, and efficiently. This breakthrough not only optimizes charging infrastructure utilization but also ensures that existing vehicle owners are not left behind in the technological shift.

The system has undergone successful trials on select GB/T enabled EV buses and commercial EV cabs, demonstrating excellent performance and reliability. Servotech is now exploring wider deployment opportunities across fleet operators, public transport networks, and commercial charging hubs.

Earlier, Servotech Power Systems had also filed two patents intending to facilitate grid service optimisation through a battery energy storage system and to effectively channel renewable energy into BESS for maximum value, enabling the transition to sustainable energy.

Arun Handa, CTO, Servotech Power Systems said, “Servotech continues to lead the charge in innovation, propelling the EV industry towards enhanced accessibility, convenience, and interoperability in charging solutions. Servotech aims to establish 5,000 CPO sites across the nation in the coming years and these sites will also equipped with this technology. In the arena of EV charging infrastructure, Servotech feels a compelling need to develop a more connected, efficient, and sustainable EV ecosystem, because of this compelling need Servotech is now all set to develop a technology that will enable users to fast charge any GB/T Bharat DC 001 vehicle seamlessly.”

Applications of ANPR Technology

1. Traffic Management and Law Enforcement

ANPR technology is essential for law enforcement agencies to monitor and track vehicles effectively. It helps detect unregistered, stolen, or suspicious vehicles, enhancing public safety. Additionally, ANPR systems contribute to improved traffic flow and enforcement of traffic regulations.

2. Parking Management Systems

Parking operators leverage ANPR for automated entry and exit systems, providing hassle-free parking experiences. The technology reduces wait times by instantly recognizing vehicles and granting access. It also improves security by monitoring unauthorized parking and enhancing revenue collection through accurate tracking.

3. Toll Collection and Access Control

ANPR systems streamline toll collection by automatically identifying vehicles and enabling contactless payments. This technology eliminates the need for manual ticketing and reduces traffic congestion at toll booths. Enhanced efficiency improves the overall user experience and revenue generation for toll operators.

Benefits of Integrating ANPR with EV and CPO Systems

i) Improved Efficiency and Convenience

Integrating ANPR technology with EV and CPO systems automates vehicle identification and access control, minimizing manual interventions. This results in faster, smoother operations and reduced operational costs. Enhanced efficiency ensures a seamless experience for both service providers and users.

ii) Enhanced User Experience

By simplifying vehicle recognition and payment processes, ANPR integration speeds up charging sessions. Users enjoy a hassle-free, contactless experience that eliminates the need for physical authentication. The streamlined process leads to higher user satisfaction and loyalty.

iii) Data Collection for Better Planning and Maintenance

ANPR systems collect valuable data on vehicle usage patterns, charging frequencies, and peak times. CPOs can leverage these insights to improve maintenance schedules, enhance infrastructure planning, and optimize resource allocation. Data-driven decisions ensure better service reliability and network growth.

Servotech plans to establish 5000 CPO sites across the nation, equipped with the latest technology. This initiative aligns with the company’s mission to significantly contribute to India’s e-mobility goals, fostering a connected, efficient, and sustainable EV ecosystem. The unveiled patents underscore Servotech’s vision to transform EV charging paradigms, making substantial contributions to the development of India’s EV charging infrastructure. The company’s efforts signal a future where accessibility and innovation seamlessly converge.
