The Income Tax Department has announced December 31, 2025 as the final deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar. All PAN card holders must complete this process before the deadline.
If PAN is not linked with Aadhaar by
this date, the PAN will become inoperative, which can lead to disruption
in important financial and tax-related services.
However, individuals who received their PAN after October 1, 2024 using an Aadhaar enrolment ID can link their PAN with Aadhaar free of cost until December 31, 2025.
Linking PAN with Aadhaar helps
verify identity and prevents the issue of duplicate PAN cards. It is mandatory
for all taxpayers in India to keep their PAN–Aadhaar linkage active.
Steps
to Link PAN with Aadhaar
- Visit the Income Tax e-filing portal and log in
using your credentials. If you are not registered, complete the registration
first.
- After logging in, go to ‘My Profile’ and click
on ‘Link Aadhaar’ under the ‘Personal Details’ section.
- Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number, then click ‘Continue
to pay through e-Pay Tax’.
- Select the relevant assessment year and choose ‘Other
Receipts’ as the payment type.
- The applicable fee will be auto-filled. Click Continue
and complete the payment process.
Linking PAN with Aadhaar on time will ensure uninterrupted access to tax filing, banking, and other financial services.
