Samsung expanded its smartwatch lineup in July 2025 with the introduction of the Galaxy Watch8 family, which includes the regular Galaxy Watch8 and the more refined Galaxy Watch8 Classic. The Classic variant marks the return of Samsung’s much-loved physical rotating bezel, aimed at users who prefer tactile navigation and a traditional watch feel.
Software & Performance
Both models run on Wear OS 6 paired with One UI Watch 8,
delivering smoother animations and deeper ecosystem integration. Powering the
watches is Samsung’s latest 3nm Exynos penta-core chipset, designed to boost
responsiveness while consuming less power, resulting in quicker app launches and
improved battery efficiency.
Design & Build Quality
Samsung has adopted a modern rounded-square (“squircle”)
chassis, giving the Watch8 series a distinctive identity. Despite the slimmer
profile, durability remains a priority:
Sapphire crystal protects the display from scratches
IP68 certification and 5ATM water resistance make the
watches suitable for swimming and everyday wear
Display Experience
The Super AMOLED panels are brighter than ever, reaching up
to 3,000 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even under harsh outdoor lighting.
Colors remain vibrant, and contrast is sharp, whether checking notifications or
tracking workouts.
Health & Fitness Intelligence
Health tracking is a major focus, enhanced by Galaxy AI. New
and refined capabilities include:
Intelligent sleep analysis and coaching
Vascular load tracking for deeper cardiovascular insights
Support for ECG and blood pressure monitoring
(region-dependent)
A personalized AI running coach that adapts to individual
fitness levels
Connectivity & Navigation
Users can choose between Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE-enabled
versions. The Watch8 series also supports dual-frequency GPS, improving
accuracy during outdoor activities like running, hiking, or cycling.
Smart AI Features
A standout upgrade is the inclusion of Google Gemini directly on the watch, making the Galaxy Watch8 the first smartwatch to ship with Gemini built in. This enables more natural voice interactions, smarter contextual responses, and hands-free assistance without needing to reach for a phone.
