Indian smartphone brand Lava International has announced that it is enabling Band 28 (700 MHz)

Indian smartphone brand Lava International has announced that it is enabling Band 28 (700 MHz) support across a wide range of its 4G and 5G devices. The update covers multiple product families such as AGNI, Play, Blaze, Bold, Yuva, Storm, and SHARK, and is aimed at delivering more reliable mobile connectivity beyond major cities.

This move is particularly significant for users in rural, semi-urban, and highway regions, where network coverage has traditionally been inconsistent.

Why Band 28 (700 MHz) Matters

The 700 MHz spectrum is considered one of the most effective frequency bands for mobile communications due to its physical propagation advantages:

Wider coverage area: Lower-frequency signals travel farther and require fewer towers.

Better indoor and terrain penetration: Signals are less affected by walls, foliage, and uneven landscapes.

Stronger rural performance: Ideal for villages, outskirts, and long highway routes where tower density is low.

More stable everyday usage: Voice calls, navigation apps, and video streaming remain usable even in weak-signal zones.

By supporting this band, Lava devices can maintain connectivity in areas where higher-frequency bands often fail.

Engineering and Software-Level Optimisations

To ensure effective Band 28 performance, Lava has implemented changes at both the hardware and firmware levels:

Hardware upgrades include:

Integration of Multi-Mode Power Amplifiers (MMPA) and advanced Front-End Modules (FEM)

Reworked motherboard layouts to handle low-band frequencies efficiently

Deployment of high-isolation antenna systems for reduced interference

Software improvements focus on:

Fine-tuning modem, processor, and RF calibration for fluctuating signal conditions

Smarter power management to balance battery life with network stability

Support for Carrier Aggregation, allowing faster data speeds by combining multiple spectrum bands

Together, these changes enhance signal reliability without compromising device efficiency.
