Motorola didn’t just bring another foldable to CES 2026 — it rewrote its own playbook.
After years of defining the modern flip phone, the
Lenovo-owned brand has finally crossed into book-style foldables with the Razr
Fold, a device that signals a clear shift from nostalgia-driven design to
full-scale productivity. Unveiled on the CES show floor, the Razr Fold
positions Motorola squarely against heavyweights like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7
and Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold — and it’s doing so with confidence.
From pocket-friendly to productivity-first
Closed, the Razr Fold behaves like a familiar premium
smartphone. Open it, and the device transforms into a compact tablet built for
multitasking, note-taking, and content consumption. Motorola says this
dual-personality approach is central to the Razr Fold’s identity — portability
without compromise.
At the heart of the experience is an 8.1-inch LTPO inner
display with sharp 2K resolution, designed for extended reading, split-screen
workflows, and stylus input. On the outside, a 6.6-inch cover display ensures
users can handle calls, messages, and apps without unfolding the device every
time.
Cameras that don’t feel like a compromise
Foldables often trade camera ambition for flexibility — but
Motorola is pushing back. The Razr Fold features a triple 50MP rear camera
system, covering wide, ultra-wide, and 3x optical zoom photography. Selfies and
video calls are handled by a 32MP cover camera and a 20MP inner camera, giving
users high-quality imaging regardless of how the phone is folded.
AI, but practical
Motorola’s on-device AI plays a quieter, more useful role
here. Features like Catch Me Up summarise missed calls and messages, while Next
Move offers contextual suggestions based on what’s happening on screen —
whether that’s drafting an email, planning travel, or reviewing documents.
Importantly, much of this processing happens directly on the device, keeping data
private and responses fast.
Designed to be used, not just admired
Support for the Moto Pen Ultra stylus reinforces the Razr
Fold’s productivity focus, while Pantone-certified finishes — Blackened Blue
and Lily White — add a refined, premium touch.
Motorola is keeping some cards close to its chest. Battery
capacity, chipset details, pricing, and launch timelines remain under wraps,
with full specifications promised later in the year.
Still, the message from CES 2026 is clear: the Razr brand has grown up. With the Razr Fold, Motorola isn’t chasing trends — it’s redefining what the Razr name stands for in the era of big screens and smarter devices.
