Poco M8 5G will launch in India on January 8

POCO is set to expand its M-series lineup in India with the launch of the POCO M8 5G on January 8, 2026, at 12 noon IST. The smartphone will succeed the POCO M7 5G and will be sold exclusively via Flipkart’s POCO Store, reinforcing the brand’s online-first strategy.

What We Know So Far

Slim & Lightweight Design

POCO claims the M8 5G is the thinnest smartphone in its price segment, measuring just 7.35mm and weighing 178 grams. The phone features a dual-tone premium back panel and a distinctive squircle-style rear camera housing, giving it a more refined look than its predecessor.

Curved AMOLED Display

The handset comes equipped with a 6.77-inch 3D curved AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. With a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, the screen is designed to remain visible even under harsh sunlight.

Performance & Software

At its core is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, which POCO claims delivers an AnTuTu score exceeding 8.25 lakh. The device will ship with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, and POCO has committed to four major Android updates along with six years of security patches—a notable promise in this segment.

Camera Capabilities

Photography duties are handled by a 50MP AI-backed main camera, aimed at delivering improved image processing and smarter scene detection.

Battery, Charging & Durability

The POCO M8 5G is expected to pack a 5,520mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. On the durability front, it carries an IP66 rating, SGS MIL-STD-810 certification, and POCO’s Wet Touch 2.0, allowing the screen to function even with wet hands.

Expected Price and Configurations

Although POCO has not officially disclosed pricing, market estimates indicate the phone could launch at a starting price of ₹13,999–₹15,000. The device is expected to offer up to 16GB RAM (including 8GB virtual RAM) and storage options reaching 256GB, making it competitive in the budget 5G space.
